What is a heat strip?

What is a heat strip in the HVAC industry?

A heat strip is a heating element. We can find the heat strip in an air handler around the top part of the Air Handler Unit. Behind the Air Handler Unit's panel or inside the unit is the electronic section of AHU. (AHU is the abbreviation of Air Handler Unit.) We will see the transformer, circuit breaker, Fan relay, Sequencer, and Heat block terminal. (The heat strip connects to the heat block terminal, which connects to the relay.) If we go below this panel of AHU... Have a blower motor with a capacitor and wires.

The image below is an electric heat furnace that students will work at in Remington College, Shreveport. A furnace gas will not have a heat strip. However, the gas furnace will have gas to burn to provide heat.

As seen below, heat strips are the four coils. The pink item on AHU is a fuse. A fuse is an item that will protect components from high increases in electricity flow or current. Also, a fuse is helpful in troubleshooting HVAC equipment.

Where else might people find a heating element? A heating element can find in a washer machine, dryer combo, or dryer. However, the heating element will be in or at a location different from AHU. That is why developing skill for the simplest version of troubleshooting is a transfer or soft skill. This skill or a method is to look, follow an item, think, learn, and act. The short outcome of this skill is to find the Heat element, for the heating element might be in a different place on a washer, dryer combo, or dryer. (In science, this skill might be called to observe.)

What type of heat, conduction, or forced convection (by middle ) radiation? I want to say as 8-24-22, this type of heat is radiation, and convection for the heat strip does turn color and is move the heat by the wind of blower motor. Once electrons flow into the coil or slinky, the metal turns red and rubs with heat, showing radiation.

Why does the HVAC need a heated item in an air handler? To allow heat to go into the vents of the house.

The above work is only my opinion and should use for education reasons or review one's note on HVAC. Also, this post is for people to gain entertainment from learning new things. Post or message on LinkedIn or this link: (https://corbin1phillips.wixsite.com/corbin-first-website/blog)
