How change a contactor?

Disclosure of this information might have missed part, and changing contactor can be dangerous.

How to change a contactor base on text?

First, how would a contractor appear? The image below is the contactor I change in school. I also take notes on what the professor says in my small red notebook.

To make this simple. Get an expert or highly train the person to change a contactor.

What I highly trained a person will do is tag out mode or tag process. This is the stage where a person must go to allow no power to enter the units. Another Professor explains that disconnecting box power or volt is crucial for changing a contactor. A place to stop power or volt is at BC ( circuit breaker) and thermostat.

He draws a volt line of power, adding up to a high volt in the disconnecting. So, three to turn off power: BC, Thermostat, and Disconnecting box to be safe.

To be safe, people should wear gloves and eyewear. Maybe keenly paid.

In my last blog post, I did talk big notebook with notes from a lesson a professor spoke about on zoom.

The question is, "Why is need to change the contactor?

  1. Bugs.

  2. No, or OHM goes bad.

  3. The contractor can get old as parts can get worse.

After repeating answers from the question at school and answering the volt element of the system, I start to work on changing the contactor.

So, how do trained personnel change a Contactor with supervisors as in the professors?

  1. I turn off the power to the system.

  2. I ensure my professor watches me pulling the disconnect box, (CB) Circuit Breaker, and thermostat.

  3. Then I verify no power by using a volt meter or multimeter.

  4. I take a photo of the above image or an image of the unit's contactor

  5. Next, I use a screwdriver and a nut driver to remove the contactor.

  6. I started to use an It was surprisingly hard to turn the screwdriver, so we moved to a small nut driver or small than a 5/16 nut driver. Work was still hard, but I did it.

  7. Then I move to the next unit by this with a cover still on it.

  8. Remove the cover, and repeat steps 1 to 6. ( Do the same things, take images, and turn off all power. Find the contactor, and check for power. This time was more accessible than my first time. Yet, that some minor errors in the tool. I was using a 5/16 nut on the wrong item. )

  9. After that, I replace it on the other unit, and we turn it on for one minute to see if this unit has power.

Thank you read this blog. Please call a professional to change a Contactor; otherwise, it can harm people's health. This here should be viewed as a useful read note for fun. For chance, I might overlook something.
